- Description
A leading global AEC (architecture, engineering, and consulting) firm is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineering Leader for its Health Sector practice.
To succeed in this role, a collaborative mindset is essential. You will draw on a broad network of internal resources and be trusted to work with clients and internal teams as a thought leader, Health Sector champion, brand ambassador, and expert in project delivery. Our leaders stay engaged in projects and contribute meaningfully to client success. This is a Principal-led practice. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of healthcare design and delivery, be active listeners, and be able to build relationships internally and externally—nurturing long-lasting client bonds, connecting the right disciplines and team members with opportunities, pursuing new projects regionally and across North America, and challenging colleagues to do their best work every day. As a trusted partner within the firm's Global Health Sector, you will champion design excellence through fiscally responsible, award-winning engagements focused on positive health outcomes. You will be supported by the full Global Health Sector team, with opportunities to develop integrated design proposals for cutting-edge, world-class projects alongside top-tier marketing, while leading and mentoring others and contributing to final deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as engineering project leader for the design and delivery of major healthcare projects
- Interface regularly with architectural and engineering leaders across North America within an integrated design practice.

- Collaborate with technical and managerial project leads to meet key operational performance metrics—both financial and improved health outcomes for delivered projects.
- Lead local and regional business development pursuits and business planning, including pre-positioning and strategic proposal development with interior design, medical planning, architecture, and engineering professionals.
- Act as a seller-doer, generating work and delivering long-term value to clients.
- Develop and maintain industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, competitor/teaming partners, and potential recruits.
- Contribute to thought leadership and brand visibility by sharing knowledge and innovation stories at client engagements, industry events, and professional networks.
- Support recruitment and retention of top-tier staff.
- Mentor and coach the next generation of designers and thought leaders, while receiving mentoring from established leaders.

- Demonstrated design and planning leadership on major projects.
- Ability to lead project teams across a range of healthcare project types and scales, with a proven ability to balance a book of business.

- Experience with strategic pre-positioning for pursuits, including engagement strategies, responses to Expressions of Interest, Statements of Qualifications, RFPs, formal interviews, and fee/contract negotiations.
- Strong business development skills and a track record as a seller-doer who builds long-term client relationships and value.
- Entrepreneurial orientation with a strong understanding of the business development challenges facing a consulting-services provider.
