The National Account Manager – Retail will play a key role in driving the company’s sales and customer relationship strategies, contributing to the achievement of revenue growth and superior customer service in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Reporting directly to the National Sales Director, this role requires a blend of strategic leadership, customer-centric sales planning, and an entrepreneurial mindset to develop both new and existing retail partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to lead retail accounts, identify sales opportunities, and implement strategies that align with the organization’s goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of account management for current and prospective retail partners.

  • Implement and monitor company policies on budgeting, pricing, and merchandising strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.

  • Lead the development and execution of private label sales and marketing plans aimed at maximizing profitability, volume, and market share.

  • Negotiate customer-specific agreements, considering both business opportunities and corporate priorities.

  • Analyze customer sales and financial performance, offering recommendations to optimize product offerings and achieve business targets.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure sales and marketing presentations effectively represent the product portfolio.

  • Drive the execution of marketing and merchandising initiatives in the marketplace.

  • Manage and review sales performance through regular reports, ensuring alignment with financial goals.

  • Partner with internal sales teams to create comprehensive customer business plans with clear priorities and targets.

  • Serve as the voice of the customer to ensure that internal teams (e.g., marketing, supply chain, R&D) understand customer expectations and are aligned to deliver on them.

  • Drive product listing activations and optimize current product offerings.

  • Monitor competitive activities and implement strategies to maintain competitive advantages.

  • Uphold a high standard of customer service and ensure the delivery of exceptional service experiences.

  • Comply with all company policies, including safety and quality standards.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant field.

  • Experience managing retail (CPG) and in-store bakery accounts.

  • Expertise in private label sales within the retail sector.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute long-term business and customer strategies.

  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to identify and capitalize on new sales opportunities.

  • Comfortable working in an evolving entrepreneurial environment with a focus on growth and continuous process improvement.

  • Ability to create impactful sales presentations that clearly communicate value propositions.

  • Strong negotiation skills with a focus on profitability and financial analysis.

  • Excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Comfortable working in ambiguous situations and bringing clarity to complex problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and align internal and external partners to deliver results.

  • Experience launching new customers and products.

  • Capable of coaching and developing future business leaders.

  • Strong integrity and professional conduct in building business relationships and leading negotiations.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools; capable of driving sales effectiveness through data analysis and CRM/ERP systems.
