We are seeking an Energy Services Technical Manager to join a passionate and growing group of engineers and technicians in the Building Energy Systems market. In this role, you will work on some of the most advanced energy efficiency and emissions reduction projects in the world, while guiding technical and process improvements for the business.
- Lead the training and the ongoing development of a growing engineering team, supporting the onboarding process and continuous learning
- Develop standardized analysis tools and establish formal processes and procedures in collaboration with the senior engineering team
- Work closely with internal and external experts in the field of building performance and carbon emission reductions, taking on increasing responsibility for technical excellence and leadership
- Guide evidence-based retrofit and operational solutions for mechanical and electrical systems in commercial and institutional buildings
- Analyze and interpret building energy and water performance metrics for a wide range of building types and building systems
- Apply creativity in achieving practical solutions to complex building system performance challenges
- Communicate information effectively to a variety of internal and external audiences
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
MANDATORY
- Mechanical Engineering Degree (B.Eng/M.Eng) and Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng), or working towards P.Eng eligibility
Other Desired Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in HVAC/building systems
- 4+ years of experience in building energy systems analysis, retrofit design, and operations
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems design
- Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills with experience in facilitation of teams
- Exposure to carbon reduction assessments for buildings and portfolios
- Working knowledge of building automation systems, sequences of operation, and mechanical systems retro-commissioning
- Application of current ASHRAE 62.1, 90.1 and CSA Z317.2 standards and guidelines
- Understanding cause and effect relationships between building design/operations and actual energy and water performance
- Systems thinking, analytical, and modeling skills
