Our client, an award-winning employee-owned consulting firm, has an excellent career opportunity in one of three Southern Ontario offices for an experienced Manager of Transportation Planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and being a technical resource on transportation projects across Ontario.
- Managing staff to provide innovative, integrated, pragmatic and consistent solutions to complex planning challenges.
- Function as a Project Director/Project Manager on Transportation Planning, preliminary design environmental Assessments, traffic operations/safety and other projects.
- Maintaining an awareness of trends, developments, and advancements in the transportation planning field to retain technical competency.
- Negotiating innovative solutions to complex planning challenges to achieve the transportation planning and development objectives.
- Working closely with and supervising engineers, technologists, and planning staff in order to grow a diverse transportation planning practice.
- Mentoring and coaching project teams including technical and field staff.
Desired Qualifications- Graduate of a University program in civil engineering, planning or related field.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with Ontario Professional Planning Institute.
- 15+ years of demonstrated experience preferred, minimum 10 years of experience in project management and senior responsibilities in transportation planning, preliminary design, environmental assessment studies, and stakeholder consultation.
- Experience in a range of master planning and preliminary design studies of multi-modal transportation infrastructure including highways, roadways, transit, and active transportation.
- Extensive experience motivating, leading and supervising a team of professional staff as part of the senior management team.
- Consulting industry experience and specific experience working with municipalities is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of the Planning Act, Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Process, Development Review Processes, Provincial Policies and Legislation related to transportation planning.
- Sound knowledge of MTO, TAC and various municipal design standards and guidelines.
- Sound knowledge of legislative and contractual obligations and related corporate policies.
